In a vote of 220-211, the House passed a continuing resolution to fund the government through December 3, 2021, and raise the debt limit through December 2022. The measure also provides $28.6 billion in disaster relief and $6.3 billion to help Afghan evacuees resettle in the U.S. Lawmakers also passed a suspension bill, previously debated in July, to compensate CIA personnel and U.S. diplomats who experienced brain injuries known as "Havana syndrome" while serving in Cuba, China, and other locations. Members later started work on the defense authorization, and a measure that seeks to prohibit certain restrictions on abortion providers.
