The House considered 18 bills under suspension of the rules. Three new members who won special election in August were sworn in: Representatives Mary Peltola (D-AK), Pat Ryan (D-NY), and Joe Sempolinski (R-NY). Representative Peltola, the first indigenous Alaskan to serve in Congress, was elected to complete the term of the late Representative Don Young (R), who died earlier in the year. Representative Ryan replaced former Representative Anthony Delgado (D), who resigned to become lieutenant governor of New York. Representative Sempolinski was elected to replace former Representative Tom Reed (R), who resigned over sexual misconduct allegations. The House adjourned for the day in honor of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
