House and Senate Pass Continuing Resolution to Fund Government
House Session - September 18, 2023

The House considered several bills under suspension of the rules, including legislation dealing with veterans' health care benefits. Lawmakers had been expected to debate a bill to provide more transparency to patients about the cost and price of health care services, but it was pulled from the floor because it did not have enough support to pass. Also, Congress faced a deadline to fund the government for fiscal year 2024 or face a shutdown on September 30. House Republicans were working to come to an agreement on funding.
