House Passes Bill For Humanitarian Assistance at Southern Border, 230-195
Senate Session - April 24, 1990

The Senate passed H.R. 3 to authorize appropriations to expand Head Start programs and programs carried out under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 to include child care services. The bill was passed after the adoption of a technical amendment. The Senate continued debate on H.R. 1594 Favored-Nation Status for Hungary and after adopting twenty-two amendments and rejecting two, the bill was adopted. The Chair, on behalf of the Republican Leader, announced the appointment of Charles F. Smithers, of Connecticut, as a member of the Congressional Award Board.
