House Approves $1.2 Trillion Spending Bill
Senate Session - September 23, 1993

The Senate continued its consideration of the Foreign Operations Appropriations Bill, H.R. 2295, for the fiscal year 1994. The Senate was debating amendments to the bill, including an amendment offered by Senator Jesse Helms (R-North Carolina), which passed by a vote of 92 to 4. The bill provides for $12.5 billion for FY '94 and $1.6 billion for supplemental aid for the current year 1993. There is $2.5 billion in assistance to the republics of the former Soviet Union. There is also $3 billion in aid for Israel and $2.1 billion for Egypt.
