The United States Senate opened with prayer.
The Senate debated and voted on the nomination of Ricki Tigert of Tennessee to be a member of the Board of Directors of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. The nomination passed 90 to 7. The Senate also debated and voted on the motion to invoke Cloture on the nomination of H. Lee Sarokin, of New Jersey to be the United States Circuit Judge passed by 85 to 12. The Senate continued to debate the executive nominations.
