Senate Passes Foreign Aid Package 79-18
Senate Session - April 24, 1996

The Senate continued debate on an illegal immigration bill that would increase the number the of border patrol agents and also build a 14-mile triple fence along the U.S.-Mexico border near San Diego. Lawmakers also debated a Democratic proposal on raising the minimum wage, and they passed a one-day temporary spending bill (also known as
a continuing resolution).
