The Senate voted 98-2 to approve a bill imposing additional sanctions on Iran and Russia. The new sanctions on Iran penalize companies or people helping Iran develop ballistic missiles. The sanctions on Russia will be applied against those who assist the Russian intelligence sector in conjunction with the investigation into Russian involvement in the 2016 presidential election. The measure would also require congressional approval before the president could ease the sanctions against Russia.
