Senate Passes Foreign Aid Package 79-18
Senate Session - September 10, 2019

The Senate considered several judicial and executive nominations, including confirming Kelly Craft to be U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) announced that the Senate would exercise its option to take another vote on President Trump's national emergency declaration for the U.S. southern border. Under the law, the Senate can vote to repeal the declaration every six months. Lawmakers voted to repeal the president's declaration in March 2019, but the House failed to override his veto.
