The Senate passed the two 2020 domestic spending packages funding the government through the end of the fiscal year on September 30, 2020, thus averting a government shutdown. Senators also approved Stephen Biegun to be deputy secretary of state, and several district court nominations: Anuraag Singhal, Southern District of Florida; Karen Marston and John Gallagher, Eastern District of Pennsylvania; Daniel Traynor, District of North Dakota; Jodi Dishman and Bernard Jones, Western District of Oklahoma; Mary Kay Vyskocil and Lewis Liman, Southern District of New York; Kea Riggs, District of New Mexico; Robert Colville, Western District of Pennsylvania; Gary Brown, Eastern District of New York; and Stephanie Davis, Eastern District of Michigan.
