The Senate voted 53-42 to block a Department of Education rule changing its policy on student loan debt forgiveness. Lawmakers also continued work on a bill to reset energy and environment policy. The legislation combines more than 50 bills offered by various senators, both Democrats and Republicans, and includes issues such as energy efficiency, battery storage, carbon capture, electric grid security, building codes, and a new generation of nuclear reactors. Off the floor, members continued to negotiate on federal coronavirus response and an economic stimulus package.
