The Senate Will Convene At 3:00 PM Today
Senate Session - February 10, 2021

The first part of Day 2 of former President Trump’s impeachment trial for incitement of insurrection began with House impeachment manager Representative Jamie Raskin (D-MD) asserting that the former president had “surrendered his role as commander in chief” and become “the inciter in chief.” He played Mr. Trump’s January 6, 2021, Twitter video in which he told his supporters who attacked the U.S. Capitol to “go home.” Representative Joe Neguse (D-CO) then outlined impeachment managers' plan for arguing their case, including in his presentation video of Mr. Trump’s comments after the election, former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly’s remarks, and interview footage with one of the rioters. In the final segment, Representatives Joaquin Castro (D-TX) and Eric Swalwell (D-CA) described Mr. Trump’s actions and played video of some of his statements leading up to and after the 2020 election.
