On a near party-line vote, House passed legislation to make the District of Columbia the 51st state. Representative Collin Peterson (MN) was the only Democrat to vote "no." Members also failed to override President Trump's veto of a resolution to block the Education Department's student loan forgiveness rule via the Congressional Review Act (CRA), and they approved a suspension bill. At the end of the day, members debated two bills to be voted on the following week: H.R. 5332, the Protecting Your Credit Score Act of 2019, and H.J.Res. 90, a disapproval resolution of a rule issued in May 2020 by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency on Community Reinvestment Act Regulations.
