President Clinton told world leaders that they all must work together to combat the global economic crisis. He said that cooperation must focus on promoting growth in the industrial world, sheltering Latin America from the turmoil, helping Japan and Asian countries recover, and enacting long-term reforms to eliminate the “boom-bust cycle” of the global economy. He further urged U.S. lawmakers to provide an extra $18 billion to the International Monetary Fund. close
