Carl Sagan and others addressed the Interparliamentary Conference on the Global Environment. It was the first U.S.-sponsored conference of legislators to focus on the global environment and included representatives from more than forty nations. Dr. Sagan explained the scientific reasons that ‘greenhouse gases’ seem to be causing global warming.

He showed slides, although they are too dark to be seen on the videotaped program. After his presentation he responded to audience members' questions.

Senator Al Gore was chairman of the Conference on the Global Environment. close
