The Budget Conference Committee met to discuss the budget agreement. Rep. Leon Panetta, the chairman of the committee, conceded that it would be impossible for both parties to be completely satisfied with a budget compromise. Senator Jim Sasser, Senator Pete Domenici, and Representative Bill Frenzel attended the meeting and agreed that a compromise was necessary but would not draw widespread bipartisan support. close
