Linda Gordon spoke to students about her book The Great Arizona Orphan Abduction, published by Harvard University Press. The book examines racism in the turn-of-the-century southwest by detailing the 1904 incident in Morenci, Arizona, in which white citizens of the town kidnapped orphans from a Catholic orphanage after some of the children had been adopted by Mexican immigrants. The Catholic Church sued unsuccessfully to regain the orphans. close
