Prior to the official dinner, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee arrived at the White House South Portico and was greeted by President Bill and Mrs. Clinton. There was no receiving line. At the official dinner the prime minister and President Clinton toasted one another and spoke about growing interdependence between the U.S. and India.
