Lt. General Kelly and Admiral McConnell updated reporters on events in the Persian Gulf War. Their remarks concentrated on U.S. and allied military maneuvers including numbers of air sorties, downed aircraft, Iraqi SCUD attacks, and so on. Mr. Williams announced U.S. aircraft downed behind enemy lines would not be a matter for discussion due to military intelligence secrecy. Lt. Gen. Kelly refused to discuss numbers of Patriot missiles fired nor the first female MIA of the war. Mr. Williams announced the numbers of personnel in the Persian Gulf war “theatre,” and responded to questions from the media. close
