Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, General Peter Pace and other officials spoke to reporters about plans to try Afghan detainees suspected of high-level participation in terrorist networks by military commissions. Among the issues they addressed were the degree to which the proceedings would be open to the public, the rights of detainees, chances for appeals, and the differences between the proceedings and civilian court proceedings. Following their comments they answered questions from the reporters. close
