Leaders of Arab nations met to consider a peace plan offered by Crown Prince Abdullah of Saudi Arabia. The plan would offer diplomatic recognition to Israel in exchange for Israeli withdrawal from land seized in 1967. Egyptian President Mubarak and King Abdullah of Jordan did not attend the summit. Chairman Arafat of the Palistinian Authority was scheduled to speak via video connection, but this was cancelled. close
