The House Ways and Means Committee heard testimony from Secretary of the Treasury Nicholas Brady, who spoke on the Bush Administration’s budget proposals for the fiscal year 1992 and their relationship to the economy. Mr. Brady said the main constraints of the FY 1992 budget proposals were the budget negotiations in Congress of late 1990 and the desire to limit government spending. Spending increased in the 1992 budget proposals at a lower rate than the rate of inflation; Mr. Brady stressed the need to continue the lowering of the deficit while continuing economic growth. close
