President George W. Bush spoke to the United Nations General Assembly warning of a “grave and gathering danger” posed by Iraqi leader Sadam Hussein. He challenged the Security Council to enforce past and future resolutions on Iraq and detailed several Iraqi violations since the Gulf War. Making reference to the failures of the League of Nations, he also called on the UN to take definitive action in this matter inferring that the U.S. would act alone in the event of inaction. close
