Gayle Feldman presented a summary of her recently completed study, Best and Worst of Times: Best Books vs. Bestsellers in a Changing Business, that compares award-winning books to bestsellers from 1975 to 2000. Ms. Feldman also talked about the significant increase in the number of books published over this time, the effects of growing consolidation in the book industry, and the impact of new technologies on publishing.
