Reducing the Casuality List Created by Drugs

Speaking at the 5th Annual National Conference on Crime and Drugs sponsored by the Conference of Mayors, Mr. Martinez described the anti-drug efforts in America’s cities. He talked about the need to eliminate the drug culture, thereby decreasing the casualty list of people either directly or indirectly adversely affected by drugs. This casualty list includes all varieties of people, such as the senior citizen who does not feel safe walking in his own neighborhood, the high school drop out, and the gang murdered teenager. “I believe the whole effort to deal with drugs basically never does come to an end,” said Martinez. But he cautioned that American needs to make sure that it does not cycle through periods of drug usage. Each cycle should have less drug users. close
