Participants debated the question, “Should Government Accept Same-Sex Marriage?” Arguing “yes” was Mary Bonauto, attorney for Massachusetts' GLAD chapter, who argued the Massachusetts Supreme Court case, and Jonathan Rauch, author of Gay Marriages. Arguing “no” was Hadley Arkes, political science professor at Amherst University, and Genevieve Wood, Vice President of the Family Research Council. Each debate team was also joined by a Boston University student. Following formal arguments debaters responded to points and questions brought by the audience. Members of he affirmative team won the debate. close
