President Bush delivered his fourth State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress. In his remarks he focused on spending priorities, social policy, plans to introduce Social Security reform, and U.S. policy in Iraq and the Middle East. His comments were interrupted several times by applause and occasional muffled objections. He also recognized guests in the Gallery including a recent Iraqi voter and a family that lost their son in Iraq whose embrace precipitated a long pause in the speech.
