Richard Norton Smith conducted a tour of several of the exhibits that would open to the public highlighting President Lincoln’s life and presidency. Additionally, several winners of a C-SPAN sponsored student essay contest talked about their winning entries and what they had learned as a result of their work and a week-long tour of Illinois. Some video clips of their trip were shown.
Telephone lines were open throughout the program for viewer comments and questions about President Lincoln and the museum. In the first part of the telecast telephone lines were also open for viewer comments on news of the day.
