Telephone lines were open for viewer comments on news of the day. Among the topics callers discussed were the federal response to Hurricane Rita, relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina, evacuation process, and housing. Phones calls were received from Ms. Hess, Captain Johanson, and Mr. Fought as well as Representatives Brady and Boustany.

Ms. Hess participated from Baghdad and spoke about car bombings. She said that terrorist acts received backlash when they killed civilians. Ms. Hess also discussed the October 15 referendum on the Iraqi Constitution.

Captain Johanson participated from Colorado Springs, Colorado and discussed the role of the United States Northern Command. He is the Chief of Current Operations for NORCOM.

Mr. Fought, participating from Austin, Texas, spoke about the president’s trip to the hurricane ravaged Gulf Coast.

Representatives Brady and Boustany discussed the impact of the hurricane on their districts. close
