Richard Florida talked about his book The Flight of the Creative Class: The New Global Competition for Talent, published by Collins. In it, he wrote that America should facilitate the emigration of talented artists, scientists, doctors, and other industry-leading thinkers so that their talents are realized in America, as opposed to countries abroad. The author made the case that shifting societal values, the rising costs of urban living throughout America, and the enthusiasm displayed by those countries eager to foster a creative environment for the talented, have changed America’s role in the global competition for talent. Following his presentation, Professor Florida responded to questions and comments from members of the audience. close
