Participating by telephone, Jill Zuckman, chief Congerssional correspondent for the Chicago Tribune, spoke about action in the Senate this week. Among the topics she discussed were budget reconciliation and the removal of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge provision. Ms. Zuckman said that Senator Ted Stevens (R-AK) told his colleagues it was the saddest day of his life. A brief video clip was shown of Sensator Stevens on the Senate floor.

Telephone lines were open for viewer comments on news of the day. Callers discussed the closing session of the U.S. Senate. close
