Participating by telephone from Jerusalem, Mr. Keinon spoke about the hospitalization of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. He said that if the prime minister remains incapacitated for over 100 days, an election in March would take place.

Telephone lines were open for viewer comments on news of the day. Callers discussed an 80 billion dollar buyout proposal of Representative Richard Baker (R-LA). According to the congressional plan, property would be purchased, restored, and then sold into the private market.

Participating by telephone, Gary Marx spoke about the U.S. Supreme Court nomination of Judge Samuel Alito. He discussed awareness campaigns for and against the nominee a week prior to the start of confirmation hearings. Mr. Marx is the executive director of the Judicial Confirmation Network. close
