Following a meeting at the White House, President Bush and Chancellor Merkel spoke to reporters about numerous issues including the global efforts to combat terrorism, the situation in the Balkans, nuclear proliferation in Iran, and democracy in Iraq. Following their remarks, they responded to questions and comments from the reporters. Among the topics they addressed were the detention facilities in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and the situation in Iran.
