The Senate Armed Services Committee held a briefing on the Dubai Ports World acquisition of the Peninsular and Oriental Steamship Navigation Company. The proposed acquisition would affect assets in several major U.S. seaport terminals. After Senator Warner’s explanation of the unusual format officials, sitting on the committee dais, talked about the national security implications of the acquisition by a government-owned and controlled firm of the United Arab Emirates.
