Congressional leaders talked about the situation in Darfur. They talked about the levels of violence in the region, evidence of ethnic cleansing and genocide, and the status of refugees of the violence. Representative Pelosi had recently led a bi-partisan Congressional delegation to the region. Olympic speed skater and gold medalist Joey Cheek also talked about the need to highlight the problems of the region in the consciousness of U.S. citizens. Following their remarks they answered questions from reporters in the audience. close
