The House Government Reform Subcommittee on Government Management, Finance, and Accountability held a hearing on prevention of fraud, waste, and abuse and lessons learned in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Assistant Attorney General Fisher testified about her work investigating, prosecuting, and deterring hurricane-related fraud and public corruption. Several inspectors general involved in the investigations also testified about their findings. Among the topics addressed were the operation of fraudulent charities, identity theft, contract and procurement fraud, and corruption by public officials. close
