A panel progressives and libertarians moderated by Neera Tanden talked about the proposed Federal Marriage Amendment, baring states and the judiciary from legalizing same-sex marriage. Among the topics they addressed were the implications and potential consequences of using the amendment process to forward social policies, the anti-democratic nature of Constitutional amendments, federalism and states' rights, and the potential use of the Constitution for political purposes.
