Helen Thomas talked about her book Watchdogs of Democracy?: The Waning Washington Press Corps and How It Has Failed the Public, published by Scribner. In her book, Washington Press Corps member Helen Thomas assessed current White House coverage. Ms. Thomas has covered the last nine presidents and during her presentation she detailed the ways several of them attempted to spin the news during their administrations. Ms. Thomas blamed the corporate consolidation of media outlets for what she describes as the “incredible lack of courage” among today’s White House reporters. She responded to questions from members of the audience. close
