The Senate Finance Committee held a hearing on executive compensation. Among the issues addressed were backdating of stock options and tax treatment of executive compensation, retirement and benefits. Panels of government witnesses and experts testified about the ethics and legality of stock benefit programs given to business executives, investigations into fair business compensation packages, loopholes in the tax code that govern stock options, and methods of making executive compensations packages more transparent. close
