The forum began with an invocation, presentation of the Colors, the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of the national anthem. Speakers addressed values and their influence on the 2006 midterm elections with the intention of challenging attendees to go back to their communities to make a difference. The opening speakers at the morning plenary session included Tony Perkins, Rep. Mike Pence, and Governor Mitt Romney. James Dobson, Tony Perkins and Alan Sears held a three-way discussion emphasizing the importance of being Christian and answered questions from the audience. Peter Sprigg moderated panelists Rep. Musgrave, Professor George, and Ms. Gallagher in a discussion on the preservation of traditional marriage. Closing speakers of the morning session included Senator Brownback and Governor Huckabee.
