Wounded soldiers and their families, as well as U.S. Army officials testified about conditions in barracks facilities for injured soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Among the issues addressed were the poor living conditions in building 18 at the center, the process for addressing complaints about conditions and treatment, the responses by military commanders to the complaints and conditions, corrective actions taken to date, and potential extent of similar problems at other treatment facilities.

Committee members convened the hearing in an auditorium at Walter Reed, in deference to the soldiers who were to testify. close
