Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice introduced Hall of Fame baseball player Cal Ripken, Jr. as the second Department of State Special Public Diplomacy Envoy in sports. In this capacity Mr. Ripken will join in efforts promoting cross-cultural dialogue with international youth to increase understanding of America by sharing his personal story and life experiences. Mr. Ripken and Undersecretary Hughes responded to questions. Mr. Ripken autographed a baseball for a child in the audience. close
