Newseum producer Frank Bond moderated a discussion on the media’s coverage of the integration of Little Rock Central High School in 1957 and subsequent issues relating to race, justice and equality.
Dorothy Gilliam is a former columnist for The Washington Post who covered “The Little Rock Nine.” Gene Roberts is a Pulitzer Prize-winning editor the co-author of The Race Beat: The Press, the Civil Rights Struggle, and the Awakening of a Nation, published by Knopf.
The event was held at the William G. McGowan Theater in the National Archives.
