Frank Fahrenkopf spoke on the evolution of the presidential debate, including the development of the town hall format and the inclusion of the Internet. He talked about the current presidential nomination campaigns and the debates that had already been held as well as the debates planned by the Commission on Presidential Debates. Mr. Fahrenkopf responded to questions from members of the audience. Professor Baker made introductory remarks.

“The Evolution of the Presidential Debate” was part of the Inside Washington Academic Seminar on “The Pursuit of the Presidency” held at The Carnegie Institution of Washington. close
