Federal Aviation Administration safety inspectors and others testified about critical lapses in FAA safety oversight of airlines and abuses of regulatory ‘Partnership Programs,’ primarily in the Southwest Region Division. The FAA employees testified that damaging information was suppressed. There were accusations that the FAA is too lenient and “overly collaborative” with the airlines. FAA supervisory personnel and the Transportation Department inspector general also testified. close
