The National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) convened their First Annual 2008 National Black Women’s Town Hall Meeting at their headquarters. After opening remarks by Dorothy Height, the Landmark of Greatness Award was presented to Barbara McKinzie.

Blanche Williams moderated two panels. Among the issues addressed were health care, education poverty, economic and labor concerns, and enforcing community standards. The first panel included Faye Wattleton, Julianne Malveaux, Daphne Valerius, and Sheryl Huggins-Salomon. The second panel included Eleanor Hinton-Hoytt, Jane Smith, Melanie Campbell, Tricia Bent-Goodley, and Avis Jones-DeWeever. close
