Sen. Claiborne Pell (D-RI), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations committee, discussed the Congress' role in foreign policy as a guest of the Kennedy Political Union at the American University in Washington, D.C. He talked about the Persian Gulf War and the “new world order” lauded by President Bush, and also talked about recent changes in the political and economic spheres in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. Sen. Pell answered student questions from the audience. close
