The 1988 Robert F. Kennedy Book Awards were given out at a forum sponsored by the American University School of Communication and the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial. The winner this year was Toni Morrison for her book, "Beloved". Participants included historian and author Arthur Schlesinger, Jr, who moderated a discussion between Ms Morrison, Dan Jacobs, author of "The Brutality of Nations", and Mary King, author of "Freedom Zone". The discussion focused on the racial strife of the 1960's and '70's and on man’s inhumanity to man. close
