A Town Hall was held on the role education played in the lives of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass and to encourages people of all ages to rededicate themselves to personal, community, and national educational goals. Young people gave presenttions inspired by the speeches and writings of Lincoln and Douglass, moderated by Sam Williams. Mr. Gaither discussed a painting of a meeting between President Lincoln and Frederick Douglass. Then a panel of educators and artists, moderated by Professor Joseph, held a discussion. They also responded to questons from members of the audience.

“Lincoln, Douglass and the Transformative Power of Words” was part of the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission National Town Hall series, held at 10 a.m on Saturday, October 3, 2009, in the Curry Student Center Ballroom of Northeastern University in Boston. close
