The Congressionally appointed panel overseeing the Troubled Asset Relief Program heard from Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner about the Obama administration’s plan to extend TARP until October 2010. TARP had been due to expire on December 31, 2009. The Congressional Oversight Panel -- created by the same law that established the $700 billion TARP fund in October 2008 - also questioned Secretary Geithner about the management and scope of the program. close
